Love and the Monster

A black comedy about loneliness and alienation, fantasy and reality.  Thematically and stylistically informed by equal parts underground, art and exploitation films of the 60's and 70's.

Danny identifies with the doomed monsters in the horror films he compulsively watches, sympathizing "All he ever wants is the girl.  He's lonely."

In his real life the beautiful women he reaches out to reject him, so he seeks comfort in the video booths in the back of the adult bookstores.

Love and the Monster is an authorized adaption of a story by acclaimed alternative comic artist Gilbert Hernandez from his Love and Rockets series.

Original score by Jonathan Richman.
