FILMJUNKIE HISTORY AND MISSION
Filmjunkie started in September 1999 as an Internet magazine
dedicated to covering and promoting film festivals throughout the world. The website has attracted attention from 45
countries and receives between 25,000 and 40,000 hits a month.
FilmThreat magazine sums it up nicely below:
"Filmjunkie.com could easily earn your respect simply
because they've got a great film festival cooking up....After all, it takes a
lot of time and love to throw a film event together these days. But Filmjunkie.com should also get some of
your attention because they produce fine, informative film-flavored content
over at their lovely site. And it's all
worth checking out.
"Take a peep at their honest festival coverage in Junkie
Representin', or step behind the lens with a few Underground Filmmaking
articles. Want in on the action, you
adventurous soul? Then submit a little
something to the new Q and A section."
-Filmthreat Dec. 2000
Filmjunkie isn't the typical marriage of film and the
Internet. We laugh at Internet film
sites that think they need $35 million to operate over the next two years. We're dedicated, lean, and ready to show the
world that filmmaking is about love and creativity, not the big business of fat
and greedy capitalists.
We can’t wait to see you at the festival.
