The Insider

Director: Michael Mann
Writers: Eric Roth & Marie Brenner

Runtime: 157

Based on the true story about a 60 Miniutes episode being pulled because of corporate involvement.

Another fine film from Michael Mann. There were a lot of hand held shots, giving the film itself a journalistic feel.

Also, the pace is perfect and you don't even realize you've been in the theatre more than two hours when it's over.

As for the acting, Pacino, hey what can I say, ever since I saw Dog Day Afternoon as a kid, I've been Pacinofied. But hey, you're reading the writing of a guy who shed a tear during Frankie and Johnny. They could do a film about Pacino going to the bathroom, and I'd be first in line.

And Russell Crowe was also his brilliant self. You know, I didn't even realize he was in Romper Stomper.

This film gets 3 1/2 shots.

The Insider is playing at Landmark Shattuck in Berkeley and the Metreon in San Francisco. Check Moviefone for showtimes.
